I was all happy happy when Microcenter put Q8300s on sell for $90 a few weeks ago. However after plugging the chip in and no post I discovered my motherboard does not support 45nm chips. I have a P6N Platinum SLI motherboard. I am at the latest BIOS and MSI has confirmed (via tech support) that the motherboard will not support 45nm CPUs.
My question is: I've read about people sending in their motherboard to MSI to have it "upgraded" to support 45nm CPUs. Is this as simple as replacing the bios chip? Anyone know?

Surly that must be more expensive than just buying a new board!
