My 500gb WD hdd is broken. It powers up, it spins, thats about it. I think I can reformat it, but then the hdd would be worthless to me. My question lies within this page:
That's the replacement PCB. I would like to know if "Note: This PCB's BIOS is intergrated on the Main Controller IC. You should exchange the Main Controller IC to let the HDD be recognized" this means the BIOS chip is a removable chip. I don't have a small torx screwdriver to find out myself.
I need to get this hdd fixed and would rather do it myself, if I can pop out the BIOS chip from the old PCB and put it in the new one them I'm in good shape. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
