Screen Tearing on Extended Desktop

I recently got a 24 inch ST2410 monitor and set it up next to my viewsonic 20.1. When I set the 24 inch as primary and the 20.1 as the secondary I get extreme screen tearing on the 24 inch monitor. But if I set it back to a single monitor the screen tearing goes away.

5770 ATI

24 inch is connected by hdmi and the 20.1 is connected by DVI ( Video card offers 1 dvi and 2 hdmi)
