how to install CTX 700E laptop battery ??

Someone out there please help.

I have a brand new battery and a slightly used laptop which does not
work with the battery.

When I run win98 and go to power management the computer doesn't even
recognize that the batteries are there.

The only place this battery can go (it's the size of a 4x6 photograph)
is in the removable floppy or CD-ROM drive.

The battery was shipped. Most likely without a charge.

I left the computer plug in overnight, but without booting it up. Is
that the problem?

Why isn't this working?

Please help.
