System Build Outside of Case

Okay, maybe I'm crazy, but I was sure I saw a thread where someone had assembled and powered up a PC before putting it in the case to ensure all the parts worked. Does anyone know where that thread is?

This is not the one I'm looking for, although I'm going to use tecmo's guide to build my system. The thread I'm looking for had pictures of the complete build outside the case.
