Hello all,

Am a VFX artist my main usage would be on aftereffects and some amount of 3dsmax and photoshop with sometimes on adobe premiere, but most of the time i would be working on after effects.I have done some R&D regarding the system.I would be working on HD resolution.

But i have read somewhere that instead of a highend GPU invest in i7 extreme and just take a basic GPU.But can i do that coz can't invest too much on both.

I need to buy within this week.

CPU -i7-950

mobo -Gigabyte GA-EX58-Extreme or ASUS P6T6 WS Revolution or Asus P6T WS Professional

GPU -ATI Radeon5830 or ATI Radeon HD 5850 or ATI Radeon5770

Memory -8Gb kingston
power -cooler master 600w
HD - Seagate Barracuda 1TB or samsung?I have never used a samsung HD Before
OS -Windws Xp 64 bit

Parts not required are monitor, mouse and keyboard

Dual Intel Xeon E5506 Nehalem-EP 2.13GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 4MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 80W Quad-Core Server Processors with ASUS Z8NA-D6 which supports Dual Socket 1366 Motherboard. The rest of the configurations stays the same as above. But would this be faster than the above and stable?

So will this be good enough or you can suggest something?

Thanks all

Welcome to the forum. There's a Build Advice form in my signature which you may want to fill out, as well. But from the looks of things, I think you would be fine with a single i7 930 overclocked, with good cooling, 12GB of RAM, and maybe a 260.
