I downloaded a firmware update today from the IBM site for an LG
CRN-8214B CD-ROM used on an IBM Thinkpad 600e. Unfortunately the
update failed shortly after starting. It has now corrupted the model
number according to the update software.
The drive appears to still be working, however I cannot run the update
again as the software says I have no appropriate drives to update. As
I was in the process of changing operating systems I cannot tell
whether the drive actually reads files or not. It definately cannot
now find the operating system on a Windows 98 installation disk.
Is there any way to get the drive working again ?.
I followed the IBM upgrade instructions to the letter to do the
update, and cannot understand what went wrong.
