How to connect mobile wifi to pc

I'm probably fifty years too old to know what "buzz on desktop" means but a smartphone can connect to the same wireless network the PC is in. That's a simple matter of letting the phone tell you what networks it can "see", choosing yours and entering the wireless security key. Most smartphones will remember that setting and jump in on sight of the network.

To let the PC use the smartphone's Internet connection is a matter of USB tethering - a setting which sometimes pops up (in Androids) when you connect the cable to a PC. Which do you want to do?
