APB CPU performance

Running a HD 5870 and an e8400 @ 4ghz on ddr2 (maximus formula x38)

This set up typically runs 45-60 fps w/ vsync on and everything max (even beta AA) 1920*1200

I got a bsod the other day and only reverting my o.c. back to factory fixed it.

Tried running the game that way and it was ugly.

Deciding to go quad core since it is recommended for the game.

I only game on this machine.

Im not rich, so cheapest route that helps is best.

I feel the answer will be to stick w/ my o.c. until Bulldozer or X68.

Maybe someone has another opinion?

An X4 955 (b.e.) w/ an overclock or I7 930? This means a board and ram update!

Upgrade just the proc to a Q9300 or Q9550 and o.c. it?

Has anyone seen the difference of this game from a dual core to quad core?

Do you check for stability with prime95 for at least 10 hours and linx for 20 minutes?

Keep what you have. Maybe lower your overclock to 3.6 or 3.8GHz

I haven't played the game. But if it is similar to GTAIV, then it will run better with a couple more CPU cores.
