try this free hard drive test program
I did same thing my drive shows up in device manager but not in my computer screen, tried this test program but it won't show up like in my computer.

I'd advise you to create your own thread so that more people from the forum can see your issues and help out with the troubleshooting. Since you already wrote here, I'd advise you to use
WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics for Windows and run the QUICK and EXTENDED tests from it. It will help you determine the health and SMART status of the HDD.
I'd also suggest you check the USB drivers for your computer/motherboard and make sure you have manually updated them from their official website. It could help with the proper detection of the WD external drive. Since it's recognized in Device manager, I'd also advise you to check how and if it appears in
Disk Management as well.
