CPU at full load while gaming

Hello :hello:

When I play video games my cpu is always at 100%. It really bottlenecks me. :ouch:

My cpu: AMD Athlon 64 x2 6400+ 3.2GHz (Windsor)

I know people with Core 2 Duo's at 2.4GHz playing the same games and using way less processor power.

Games I play: Battlefield Bad Company 2, Crysis, APB, Orange Box.

I can understand BFBC2 and Crysis using a good amount of my CPU but not full load. Maybe 70%.

When I play Team Fortress 2 or other Orange Box games I get the same Issue of 100% load. There is no way those games use that much power. Don't get me wrong they run smooth and I have a decent FPS in all these games I'm playing. Its just really bothering me that I'm pushing my CPU all the way to do so.

Any Ideas? Thank you.

System:
AMD Athlon x2 64 6400+
GTX 275
4GB OCZ ram @ 800Mhz
Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 rev 1.0
1TB HDD

Why do you think they shouldnt use your CPU all the way? If it wasnt using your CPU to 100% it wouldnt be giving you nearly as good performance. You only have a dual core so if the game is dual threaded it will try to keep both cores running at 100% all the time to give you the best performance it can. If it was only running at 70% you would only get 70% the performance.

It got me wondering when I was on my bro's comp and his Core 2 was at 60-70% load with BFBC2. And then I saw my CPU at 100% load in TF2 and started to wonder.

Hi, I know this is an old topic....
I have an AMD Athlon 64 x2 5600+ (2900mhz) and I have a problem in games:

- it runs good frames a while....and then drops frames allmost to zero....then it runs again...then it freezes....
when it freezes it's at full load(100%)

I also have 3G RAM, ati HD5670 and a crapy asus M2N-MX se plus mobo

p.s. It might be the mobo...but I allready invested in the gpu and memory...If I wouldn''t have the cpu problem it would be fine....pls help.
