I have an hp 1230n and am in the market for a new graphics card. I have looked at this one,

but was not sure if my computer could handle it. I was wondering if anyone could help me with this.

9800GTX+ might be to much for the HP PSU. Do you know the size?
For your single core CPU a card like HD4670 would be a better match and would run on your PSU if it is about 300watts.

No, that wouldn't work for a few reasons.

1- Power supply

2- Heat

3- CPU bottleneck.

Assuming your computer has a PCI-Expressx16 slot, you can get an HD5670. That'll still be a bottleneck, but it'll go more nicely.

any reason for a new video card? if its for gaming your out of luck - new system is the only way to get performance for new games etc
