I cant see the lower filters while i am searching in the regedit

Itunes has my system all screwed up. My DVD drives keep going bye bye. So I found the regedit trick where you remove the upper and lowerfilter entries BUT, my system is not showing LOWERFILTER. I was getting my info straight of the microsoft page, and it said after you delet the upperfilter and then see no lowerfilter, click a link to see more info. Well, guess what, THAT LINK WILL NOT WORK. Im so mad now im about to smash every Iphone and Ipod in my house and write a NASTY letter to apple. Can someone PLEASE HELP!

If you look carefully at " HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318" you will find several entries for different hardware devices. It is important that you chose the correct device as deleting the wrong filters can and will destroy your Windows installation beyond repair. I suspect that you are looking in the wrong place.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} Thats the one im in, and I might be wrong, but near as I can tell its exactly what you just posted. And I see no LOWERFILTER. Assuming I AM in the right spot, WHATS GOING ON?!? And thanks for the quick reply!

You should see many entries for 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318 when you click on the class box, make sure you chose the right one!

Im only finding ONE entry for that. The list goes on and on E965 E966 and high and higher up to E980, then the digits are way off . But only one E965. Any other suggestions? Or am I just blind. Haha Thanks for this info, your getting me on the right track, but I might need a little more hand holding here.

Is the one entry for the CD drive? it should say DVD/CD drive as the first entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}. On my computer I do not have a upper filter in this key, whether you have upper or lower filters depends on the software that you have installed.

Hmmm the one that has E967 has an uperfilters as well and mentions disc drive AND drives in another file. Maybe I should delete the uperfilters here as well?
