I suppose my view might seem biased, but really it's not - apart from Crysis in some reviews and a few TWIMTBP games, the HD 4770 beats the 9800GT, and in a few games the HD 4770 performs right alongside the 9800GTX+.

The HD 4770 is better out of those two. But, why not get the HD 4850 for ~ $100 off newegg?

The o/c of the 4770 make it easily much faster, probably even equal to any speed a o/c 4850 can put out as well. I run my at 900/1000 as well it stays under 60c. they should have done the whole review with the cards o/c. It was good for a 25% boost in the 4770, which is what I get. Another example is Dirt 2, which can only run in dx9, o/c I get similar #'s to a stock 5750.http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr185/notty222/Radeon-HD-4770-Overclocking-01.png

imo 5670 is also pretty close and supports dx11

5670 does not have enough hardware. Its only 400sp,20 tu,8 rop's. Thats about 1/2 of a 4850, that and they are clocked conservatively. IMHO.

the 4770 can oc a lot . i oc'ed mine to 1000/1000 with stock fan stable. i heard that it's nearly as good as 4890.

Now that's getting carried away a bit i think. very good card though and often talked down by people who dont/didnt actually own one. They generally overclock very well but not in my opinion to the level of an overclocked 4850. The bus just doesn't allow it to keep up in a lot of cases. Yes there are games where the 4770 is better but for the most part the 4850 would be the better/ faster card.

i think you will never get 4890 performance just by OCing 4770. 4770 is a nice card but to beat 4890 is simply impossible. you'll have to look on the basic hardware spec as well. btw 4770 should be a bit better than 9800GT

Neither, I would go with the XFX 4770 :

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] -_-Product

And if you want to up the ante get a GTS 250 for a few penny's more

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] -_-Product

The XFX 9800GT is 105.99$

The EliteGroup GTS 250 is 110.00$ / 90.00$ after MIR ;)

The 4770 is faster than the 9800GT and is generally closer to the 4850 and 9800GTX/GTS250 than the 9800GT. Just check out some reviews on it.

Hey I found a thread at http://www.overclock.net/pc-games/ [...] rks-3.html Heres a 9800 gt, with the same settings(actually lower res and details) where I got 74. 2xaf, 0 aa.

edit : DISREGARD THE COMPARISON to my ATI card. There is a Nvidia only option to enable water effects via cuda
