Hello, I have a set of G-skill memory,

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231335

One of the sticks went out and I am trying to find a really cheap replacement for just one stick for as cheap as possible. With sets of 3 all sticks have to be the same size right? Also what about voltages, etc. I know the speed has to be the same. I would order a stick of memory right now so it gets here before the week ends but I want to make sure that I order what's best. This is something I had in mind something around this price range.

I would really like to keep it under 30$

Would any of those 4 sticks of memory above work ok with that g-skill 6gb kit (the link at the very top) and if so which one would be the best and most likely be the one to work the best?

Thanks

None of the four you listed would be good for your GSKILL memory :(

They all have different voltage requirements and CAS Latency. You would run the high risk of BSOD and your GSKILL would need to run at the higher voltage and high CAS Latency levels to have a chance to work.

You would be better served, running two sticks of memory and contacting GSKILL for a replacement through their RMA. Otherwise, run with two sticks until you have enough to purchase a new set of 3. This will give you the best chance of success.

Hey thank you for your response. I would rma the stick of memory but one of the pins is burnt and that goes against their replacement policy. Do you think they would sell me a replacement stick?

I would order a new kit of memory but would have nothing to do with these extra 2 sticks that I have right now and they would just go to waste and I spent like 170$ on all 3.. Shouldn't it be possible for me to be able to just buy 1 stick of the same memory I have now? I have seen them in sets of 3 so it's got to be possible somehow.

I wouldn't mind running just the 2 sticks of ram but my memory needs 3 sticks of memory to run fast, wouldn't I be able to notice a performance difference with 2x2gb vs 3x2gb on a x58 motherboard? I notice that windows uses up most of my ram while gaming buy before there would be like 4 gigs out of 6 being used when I was gaming with tons of stuff open in the background.

I tried changing the page file virtual memory stuff but windows 7 is still using like 40-50% of my memory and when running starcraft 2 or something like that my ram will get up to like 3.5-3.7GB out of 4gb so that's the main reason I am so eager to replace that 2gb stick..

Are there any benchmarks anywhere comparing tripple channel vs just having 1 or 2 sticks on x58 1366 motherboards?

So you think for gaming there would be nothing noticeable in terms of performance? The only reason I am really worried is because last night I saw windows only have 500MB of memory left, I tried messing around with virtual memory / pagefile stuff but don't see a difference.

How would these 3x2gb memory kits work out?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007611%204026%20600006076&IsNodeId=1&name=6GB%20(3%20x%202GB)

Compared to my current memory I have :

Can't I just get a replacement stick that has the same voltage and timings?

Awesome thanks! Can you help me find a good enough replacement for a good enough price? And it has to be 2gb right? You aren't able to match different memory sizes together can you? I don't think you can but something is making me think otherwise..

That makes me a sad panda. :( I wish I had a use for these 2 sticks of this memory. I hate wasting stuff..

What about mixing gskill memory with other gskill memory with the specs? Would that be different? Also I remember not noticing a difference between 4 and 6 gigs but I do now because I have to close programs to play games so that I don't run out of memory. Should I tweak my pagefile? I tries setting it to 1.5x my memory, I tried setting it to automatic and tried disabling it and tried to Lower it really low..what If I got a 3x2gb kit of memory for like 60-70$? Would it be risky to run that with my motherboard compared to my 115$ 3x2gb kit?
