I recently bought a gateway laptop and I can enter bios no problem but I can't boot from dvd or usb. I am showing a dmi event log pre-boot error: memory size has changed. The ram is not the issue I switched it with ram that works for sure and same error. Am I missing something obvious or is this broken beyond repair.

Your new ram may work in another pc, but not your gateway. Try looking for an "f" key at the post screen to enter the bios, or try the "del" key at posting. If you enter the bios, simply save and exit if the boot order is ok. Also, the ram may not be seated in the slot all the way.
