PSU for the future

I'm building a new gaming computer and was wondering about a PSU to get. I like to have my PSU and cases last 2 builds and was wondering if an 850w PSU would last me long enough or if I should just go with a 1000w. I'd like this next build to last 4-5 years. I won't run more than 2 GPUs but with the way things change I'm not sure if 850w would be enough for cards 3-4 years down the road.

Any suggestions?

More about future
  1. Definitely get the 950w, even if you never need the extra power its only $10 more.
  2. Its unlikely that cards will go above the power levels they are at right now, they are techically supposed to be restricted to 300W so an 850W unit will be good for a long time. If you are looking to keep your PSU long into the future you might want to consider the Corsair 850HX it is 80+ silver and modular and slightly higher quality than the 850TX(which is still a very good unit)
  3. What exactly is the difference in bronze and silver? Just more efficient? Being modular or not doesn't really bother me as the case i'm getting is very big and has a lot of space for cables management.

    Yep. Just the efficiency rating.
