Its honestly not as hard as it sounds, it pretty much just screwing a few things in then plugging it all in.

1. Determine what do you want the machine to do- Gaming? home theater? CAD workstation?
2. Determine your budget.
3. Start making a list of components, with prices. You can use information from these forums and from what toms builds for their projects to get an idea of what level of hardware goes with what.
4. Add up the prices and see if you are in budget.
5. List your selected components in a forum message and ask for someone to review it.
6. Order the components.
7. Assemble the components. There are guides lots of places on the net. Also you can ask questions in these forums.
8. Install your OS on the assembled machine.
9. Test the assembled machine.
