Sandy Bridge Dilemma

I would probably have been ordering parts for a new gaming build today if it weren't for the SB motherboard recall. I've never had a gaming computer and there's no way I want to wait until April. Since Newegg already pulled their motherboards, I'm not sure what to do. TigerDirect has the Asus P8P67 for $185 (how much cheaper was it at Newegg before they pulled it?) and Amazon has some motherboards left, but there's a pretty limited selection, too and mostly from no-name companies.

I was thinking, if I bought the P8P67 at TigerDirect, could I RMA for a full refund in April then just pick out a revised motherboard (and have access to a greater selection than right now)? I'm a bit panic mode here as I'm sure pretty soon there won't be any choice but to wait for April unless I act soon. I would've been doing more motherboard research before choosing if there hadn't been a recall, but if I could get a refund anyway, it hardly matters if I get one that's a bit overkill (or I might've bought the P8P67 one anyway, who knows).

ASUS would not be giving refunds in April. Revised replacements yes, refunds of purchase price no. Not certain about Tigerdirect policy, but no refund in April for something you purchase now. If set on Sandy Bridge system best to wait until stable MB's are available.

^+1 on waiting for new motherboards with the updated chipset. Or go with an AMD rig...

From that Asus link: "However, we’re also offering you the option of returning any possibly affected motherboard for a swap or sales return." Would sales return mean refund?

Also, I heard Newegg was going to give refunds in April if people wanted, but they're not TigerDirect, so hmm...

And yeah, not going to settle for an inferior system.

Its only inferior if it doesn't meet your needs. ...realistic needs, not percieved ones.

I agree, but I'm going to be running an emulator called Dolphin. It uses as much CPU power as it can get, so SB would definitely be useful in my case.

Pretty sweet... I'm impressed there's an emulator out for that console already.
