I'm in the process of picking out parts for a new gaming PC. Can you help me in getting the cost down a bit and give advice on how I can improve the build?

Budget range: $800-1000

System usage: Gaming, photoshop, music/video editing, animations

Parts not required: Mouse

Preferred website: Newegg. Maybe Tigerdirect.

Parts preference: AMD.

Overclocking: Eventually

SLI/Crossfire: Eventually

Monitor resolution: 1920 x 1080

Additional Comments: The listed below are the parts I'm almost sure about.

You have not provided NEAR enough info regarding your "usage".

It is a "Gaming PC" first and foremost ... and what exact titles and resolutions do you expect to be playing?

The reason I ask is because Graphics/Edit is more of an nVidia thing and Gaming is more of an ATi thing ...

you must choose ... Do you want a great gamer that can edit ... ok ... mostly.

or ... A serious edit rig that can also play games, fairly well.

With enough money ... you can surely get both (with a 470, for instance).

I am just gonna guess and say gaming = ATi ... and the Black Quad *IS* a good choice, then ... and will rock with VEGAS edit ... CS5 is a different story (nVidia).

You can afford a 5850, on your budget ... I would not go for less.

4GB Ripjaws 1600 Cas7 (2x2GB) Dual channel kit and ...

... Hyper 212+ cooler ... Spinpoint F3 500GB HDD ... 890xx mobo with USB3 ..

... ASUS or SONY DVDR ... Antec 300 ILLUSION case.
