Purchase Date: I'm buying this computer between now and the end of summer.

Budget: Less than $700, but $800 MAX.

System Usage: First and foremost- video editing and HD capabilities. Second- burning. Third- basic internet/downloading.

Parts not Required: Speakers, and that's about it.

Preferred Websites: TigerDirect, Newegg

Overclocking: Not necessary at all.

SLI/Crossfire: Nope.

Monitor Resolution: Not sure yet, but probably around 20 inches.

Additional Comments: I'm using this computer for editing large, uncompressed videos. Everything else takes a backseat, need quite a bit of space for rendering and burning. Also, need Firewire, as I'm going to import from DV tape video cameras

^ Here is a config...

CPU + Mobo
Athlon II X4 + GIGABYTE GA-880GMA-UD2H AM3 AMD 880G SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0

The onboard video would suffice for your needs so a discrete graphics card is not required...

Or this would be my favourite -
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Thuban 2.8GHz Socket AM3 125W Six-Core + + GIGABYTE GA-880GMA-UD2H AM3 AMD 880G SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0

AMD's latest 6-core CPU, that would just rip through the video encoding..

RAM - GSKillz 4GB DDR3

CASE + PSU
Antec NSK + Antec EA 380

HDD - Samsung F3 1TB

DVD

Monitor - Why not a Ful HD
Acer X213HBbd Black 21.5" 5ms Widescreen LCD

Mouse

Total - $634 For the Athlon II X4 | $740 for the 6-Core...and IMO its worth it if you do a lot of video editing and stuffs...

Wow thanks so much! I do believe that if I DID get this setup, I'd get the $740 one. And maybe a little bit better of a mouse, but I think that would be it. Thanks for the insight!
