External hard dive problem

Hello,
I purchased a 750gb external hard drive. When I plug it in (it requires a power cord) the light comes on and I can feel it spinning, but when i plug the usb it in to my computer it will install the driver but won't show up in computer. I have tried pluging it in to different ports and it does the same thing with other computers.
system specs
FX-4100 cpu
ga-970-ud3 moatherboard
GTX 560ti gpu
500gb samsung hard drive
750wt psu

go to disk management and see if there are any partitions. if not you will need to create a new partition and format it as NTFS.
