ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:

I am looking to build a HTPC that will be primarily used for viewing HD video on my 50" 720p plasma. I would like to use it for web content (Hulu, etc) and HD rips of my bluray DVDs. So allI need is a good sized hard drive, mobo/cpu, case, and wifi connectivity.

It would be nice if I could find a mobo/cpu combo that has HDMI out that can play smooth 1080p files back and not have to add a GPU.

Your requirements are way out of your budget...

You either need to re-evaluate your budget (at least double it) or re-evaluate what your requirements are...

To playback 1080p, with a "good sized hard drive" and using the minimum cost for a cpu/mobo this will be at a minimum of $250

Toss in a minimum of 2 GB of ram and you're adding another $60

Toss in an OS (win 7) and there's another $100

A basic, no frills case is $30

Wifi connectivity will be another $40 for USB wireless

I'd say you're looking at a minimum of $500 to do what you want...

I'd spend time priceing some components...but I think you may need to go back to the drawing board...
