Hello,

I am currently building a new server system, using the Supermicro X8DTH-6F board, with two Xeon E5620 CPUs on it (purchased OEM, with no heatsink/fan).

I've also ordered two Noctua NH-U12P SE2 heatsink+fan's from Newegg, which I have not received yet.

However, I've done a bit of research, and it seems that I might need to use a heatsink like the NH-U12DX instead.

Can anyone confirm if the NH-U12P SE2 will fit or not on the motherboard? Do I really need to get the NH-U12DX heatsinks instead? Will those even fit, or is there an other heatsink that is a "sure" fit (and not too noisy, I chose the Noctua's because of their reputation of being silent)?

Thanks in advance for any help!

In fact, I've since contacted Noctua, who have confirmed that I need the NH-U12DX heatsinks (the NH-U12P SE2 won't fit), since the mounting mechanism is different on dual-CPU server boards such as the Supermicro X8DTH-6F.

They have also mentioned that the heatsinks will block the first PCIe slot.

Thanks for the input though!
