Need help finding a new motherboard

It's been a long time since I've built my own desktop, so I'm a bit out of tune when it comes to chipsets, etc.


Building a simple desktop, only one disk (SATA3 6gb/s)

No real preference to AMD or Intel, but lean towards AMD mainly for cost.

All I really need is a PCI express for a video card, and one more pci express in case I want to add something later....

Help me out?

What is your budget on the motherboard & plan usage?

If you have no preference between AM3 & Intel, the ASRock 870 Extreme3 is one of the best boards for the price to performance / features.

Both the 2GB and 4gb kits are on the QVL list so the 8GB should be no problem.

Got everything put together. Loving it.

I will have to buy a better cooler. The stock AMD fan sounds like it's coming apart. I mean, it's not just a loud fan, it sounds like the bearings are made of pebbles.
