Hello everybody. I finally found some time and was able to do some research and put a list together of components for my new pc. I have been out of the loop for a while so i would appreciate your peoples' opinion on my system. I am thinking of ordering my components in a couple of days(pending your expert opinions).
At a glance:
Case: Antec Twelve Hundred
MOBO: ASRock 890fx deluxe3
PSU: XFX Black Edition 750W
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
Video: XFX Radeon HD 5770 XXX Edition 1GB (1 for now, planning on crossfire later on)
HDD: WD Caviar Blue 320GB 7200rpm sata 3gb/s
CPU cooler: Corsair Hydro Series cwch50-1
OS: Windows 7 pro 64-bit
Ram: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 4GB(2X2GB) 240-pin DDR3 1600
Totaling out to $1,282 including shipping.
I want a decent gaming pc and this is something that i think will be able to handle everything for years to come.
Everything looks good to me except that you might want to up the HDD a little bit. This for example is one which I have had good success with. Not the largest platter size anymore, but I can recommend it myself, having had several for awhile and no problems. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
Antec 1200 is a bit overkill for a amd and 5770 build. How about a CM Haf922 for <$100.
Swap out PSU for a Corsair 750w. But really I think it's overkill.
Get a Phenom 955 instead and save $25 bucks. Get the c3 version.
Get a spinpoint F3 or 7200.12 500gb instead. Virtually same price, more GB and much faster.
Get a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus HSF instead. It's much cheaper.
Are those the Cas7 ripjaws?
I just finished running prime95 for a couple of hours. Everything works great, installed and turned on with the first try.
This CPU is insanely fast. The whole computer is fast.
Fastx21 thank you for suggesting the HAF922 case. I love it. I cant believe that when i was waiting for the items to arrive i was actually worried that there wont be "room" for everything. The case is well built and very good airflow.
