Hello,

I have an ASUS g51vx laptop. The specs are described in this link http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-g51vx-x3a-core/4507-3121_7-33858071.html?tag=mncolBtm;rnav

I am considering upgrading my laptop RAM from 4GB (2 x 2GB) to 8GB (2 x 4GB). Upon looking at the specs however, it is saying that my RAM has a "maximum capacity" of 4GB only. I also checked the specs for my chipset http://ark.intel.com/chipset.aspx?familyID=35515 and it is saying that it can support up to 8GB of RAM. Before I buy the RAM sticks I want to make sure that my laptop will support it. Will it detect 8 GB of RAM? Any ideas?

Thanks for the replies :) Im just curious as to what actually will hinder my system from recognizing 8 gigs of RAM? The chipset is able to support it.

I wouldn't waste my time with tech support lol. Their only goal is to get you to buy more of their products. :(

If say there is a BIOS limitation, is there a way to bypass this?
