How to change default installation drive

I just installed my SSD (C) drive and did a clean install on it. Whenever I install new programs, I would like them to install on my HDD (D Drive) installation. Only thing I found through google was to change some registries and just change the C to D, but my programs are still showing the C drive for the default location.

Any ideas?

  1. Already done this? http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/how-do-you-change-the-default-installation/73450b25-d794-4f18-9add-75253b893343
I personally did not bother since I have 3 drives and some go there and some here, so I specify all the time.
