Screen goes black after Windows Xp loads on start up in an Acer Aspire One D150

I have an Aser Aspire One D150-1165 with Windows XP. I can go into the BIOS and I can get to the start screen that displays the windows logo. After loading the screen goes black and nothing happens. What can I do? I have tried to boot from a flashdrive but that does not seem to work either.

does anything appear even after waiting a while or does it still go blank? is there any missing files during startup?
