Abit, Asus and Gigabyte all produce motherboards - there are many others. Pick one Socket AM2 or AM3 motherboard and one Socket 775 or LGA 1156 (socket H) motherboard and compare them from a technical point of view (You should use at least 5 criteria and for each explain why it is important and how it affects performance).

Abit doesn't produce any new boards; they stopped about three years ago. You can't compare boards without listing the complete bios and power output of each board. You need to download the board manual and do your own comparison of what features and bios settings you need. Brands don't matter so much; but I still believe asus has more bios updates than some other manufacturers.
