DDRIII or DDRII?

Hi.

I´m just wondering whether I should buy a new 4GB DDRII (then I would have 6GB of DDRII) or buy a new motherboard and only about 2 to 4 Gigs of DDRIII? Is the new performance worth the money and trouble upgrading to DDRIII?

Any help is appreciated.

Going from 4GB to 6GB of RAM isn't nearly as good as going from 2GB to 4GB as 4 is the sweet spot right now. If you needed more RAM you'd know already and you'd prolly be looking in the 8~12 GB range to support heavy commercial software on a workstation. DDR3 isn't worth the upgrade since you'd need a new mobo. Save your $$ for your next build in the future.

i would just grab the 4GB DDR2 kit since not many applications will notice the difference in speed between the DDR2 and DDR3
