Hello!

Recently I got my new Phenom II X4 955 and a CM Hyper 212+ with the stock thermal paste and the temperatures always stay around 40-49 degrees Celsius whether I have been playing games for a few hours or just powered up my new PC it always stays in the 40 degree zone. What wrong with it?

More about : normal

well.....40c is kind of warm for idle but 49c is rather cool for load. You are fine.

i have the exact same CPU and Cooler. I'm around 33c at idle and 52c at load.

Do you think the stock paste might be the problem? Ill also do a few hours of Prime 95 testing.

as i recall the stock thermal paste was a bit liquid. I used antec silver and now just recently switched to IC Diamond but my temps did not change from antec silver.

frankly, I would not worry about it. how many case fans do you have? could just be a case airflow issue.

Stock HAF 922 fans (20Cm, 20CM,14CM) but the guy did put the wires in front of the motherboard rather then on the tray and the bottom fans is kind of hide by the cables from the PSU. but then again the cooler is right next to the 2 top fans. Turns out after only a little Prime95 test the temperatures went up to 53 degrees.

So it's not a big problem if the idle temperatures are high as long as the max are normal?

no problem and your max numbers look good, slightly below normal I would say.

you can always add a second fan to the 212+ or download speedfan to increase fan speed.

Thanks! I think my room is a little hot so it might be that after 1 hour of Prime it stayed at 54 degrees so it looks alright. ill try Speed fan. thanks again! :D

check to see if you have one of the motherboards that allows fan speed changes

Apparently the new 890GX PRO/USB3 does not support speed change.
