Want to upgrade P5Q-E to something better

I want to upgrade from P5Q-E to something with DDR3 using my Q6600 Chipset. Any suggestions that are a good price now?

That would not be worth the effort and money just because of the ram!

I am finding it difficult to find DDR2 at a price that is comparable to DDR3 -- DDR3 is around $70 for 4 gigs.

From performance standpoint the upgrade would not be noticeable. You would have to add the purchase price for the new board to the price of the DDR3.
I looked for a good LGA775 board on newegg but the selection is getting thin.

I would highly recommend against upgrading your current LGA775 motherboard.
Simply upgrading for DDR3 support will not give you any additional performance and will simply be a waste of your cash.

You would be much better off saving the cash you have budgeted for a new motherboard and DDR3 RAM for a Sandy Bridge or Bulldozer platform upgrade in a few months.
