I have an old computer running a single core Athlon 4000+ at 2.4Ghz, Windows XP and 2 GB of ram.

Right now I have an old 8600GT graphics card and my question is what would be the best graphics card
that I could get that Athlon wouldn't considerably bottleneck.

Any advice is appreciated.

My advice is to stick with your card that you have. Or another option could be a 5570/4670. I would not go any higher than that.

i doubt you would see any difference between the 4670 and your current 8600GT

He will, there was a performance difference between 7600GT (very close to 8600GT in perf) and X1950XT (close to HD4670) on those single cores in their time.

ive owned the 7600GT, 8600GT, and ATI 4670

ran all three on the same CPU, Athlon x2 4200. Trust me, you won't see a difference. You will get an FPS increase but nothing you can see without FRAPS.
