Hey guys iv been looking into buying a new gaming computer and after reading alot of posts and doing moderate research iv decided that building one might be fun. My goal was finding something where i could get like great frame rates in WoW for under 600 bt i dont think thats going to happen.

So this is what iv come up with.. (added links so u cud click and see the specifics)

GamingTower $40
ASUS P7P55D MoBo $135
Intel Core i5-750 $194
ASUS CuCore Vid Card $120
Hitachi 1tb Harddrive $70
OCZ 550w Pwr Sply $65
Patriot 4gb Memory $100
------------------------------
Total= $724 (and nt even finished)

I'm not great with computers and im not sure if i need a quad core for good frame rates + maybe a couple programs running in the background.. If ud recommend a diff anything please let me know.. Any tips would be greatly appreciated..

Heres a better case for $40:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146058&Tpk=M59

Or If you dont like side-windows: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146059&Tpk=Beta%20evo

Then, get a better hard drive, like the Samsung, still $60: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146059&Tpk=Beta%20evo

But if you are over budget, going with AM3 would save you lots of money while not being much slower gaming-wise $150 for CPU+Mobo. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.437013

Finally, your system doesn't need 500W, this PSU would be a lot higher quality for only $30AR: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139008&Tpk=400CX

Cool thanks Timop i actually do like that case better and your right that would save me alot of money but do u rly think AM3 would still give me good framerates as long as i had a good video card and memory n stuff? I didnt think i needed the i5 but i kept reading about hw good it was..

Is it just for WOW, or general gaming also?

For general gaming, the Athlon wouldn't be much worse, as most games are GPU-bound, with an OC, the difference wont be too big.

But if its for primarily WOW, the Athlon would be slower than the i5 by a bit. However, when you are on a budget, don't look for a quad, as though WOW takes a good CPU/GPU combination, it really only uses 2 cores.

For just WOW, heres two better choices:
X2 555+870 (possibility to unlock into a Phenom 955), http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.436974

i3 530 + H55 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.437315

Thanks a ton Timop! I think im going to go with the AMD Phenom II Duel Core.. Gunna do a lil more homework and make sure its enough to handle Wow with some recording in the background + good frame rates. Ty for recommending everything..

So now that puts me at..

AMD Phenom(duel core) + Mobo $150
Gaming Tower $50
CORSAIR 400w Pwr Supply $50
ASUS CuCore 5570 Vid Card $150
Samsung 1tb Harddrive $70
Patriot 4gb Memory $100
-----------------------
Total= $570!.. thats $154 cheaper than where i was at..

If you or anyone else has any thoughts please lemme know.. I wanna knw all i can before i make any purchases..

I have the Phenom II X2 555 BE running it as a Tri-Core at 3.9Ghz. I mostly play WoW and with a 5770 and this CPU you should be able to run WoW at high settings (or possibly Ultra) with decent frames. I run them at High becuase my BFG GTS250 512MB is getting tired. Good luck! Usually I have Media player going along with Bittorrent and/or burning a DVD while playing WoW and no noticeable effort on the CPU's part to keep up. Pretty sweet if you're upgrading from some older hardware.
