Looking to build a box for crunching with a budget of around $350. Already got a sonata and corsair 400w so the case and psu are taken care of.
Was thinking i3 530, x2 555 or x3 440, igp mobo, 4gb ram to start, and a single platter hdd.
The main app is R which doesn't use multiple cores. Other potential apps would be MySQL, SAS, WEKA. I don't belive any of those use multi core, atleast the versions I have.
