Help me about vga card

I have a computer using a asus mainboard p5kpl-am se
and gt220 vga card 1GB DDR3, I wanted to replace it with a hd 4870 ddr5,whether they could?

Yes.
Be sure to completely remove the nvidia drivers before installing the new card.

because mb asus p5kpl-am se using slot pci-e x16 while the hd 4870 is pci-e 2.0...

The card will work in the older pci-e slots just fine.

a 5770 would be a better choice and please note your PSu power and company

a HD5770 needs a 400W psu at min

+ 1 for 5770... i'd never invest in an aging graphics card given the newer generation performs just about similar and has a ton of new features..
