ASUS p67 pro - overclock fail when not overclocking?

Forum Motherboards & Memory : Motherboards ASUS p67 pro - overclock fail when not overclocking?

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has heard of a similar issue to this.

I have a p67 pro board with an i5 2500k. On first boot, usually in the morning, the pc will not start up (no post). If I do a reset, I can get it into the BIOS after an 'overclocking failed' message. If I go into the Bios then just exit I can load windows fine... system will remain stable throughout the day from that point on.

Anyone have any ideas/thoughts on this? I have the xmp setting on for my 1600mhz ram, and I'm running 1204 bios. I'm hoping I'm not putting my PC at risk.... but all the benchmarks and temps come back thumbs up.... its just the stupid boot issue.

Oh ya, and after the overclock fail message my ram stays in 1600mhz in the bios... works fine by the looks of it.

Anyways, any help is welcome... these boards seem to have so many interesting tweaks, I can't seem to find this specific issue anywhere.

Thanks,
Adam

Does it double post on you?
if it does..clear CMOS firs and try this;
enter UEFI BIOS -> go to ‘Advanced’ tab -> go down to ‘APM’, press Enter -> enable the “Power on by PCIe

nope, not a double post. On first startup it will just hang after post, no beeps. It will sit there for a long time... doing nothing. If I power down and start back up, it will post and signal one beep... which I'm pretty sure is just VGA detected. At that point it will toss me the 'Overclocked failed' screen and force me into the bios

Have you tried running with the RAM at stock speed, does it give you the same error?

Hi, sorry for the delayed response. If I clock my Ram down to 1333mhz, by turning off xmp, I have no issues on startup and everything runs fine.

Any suggestions? I'm using G.Skill X F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Memory
