OK I have an old PC (Alienware) with a X800 Pro card.

I was looking at New Egg as a buddy told me they have card with 4 times more memory for under $100.
But they are DDR2 and DDR3.
Can I still use them?

DDR2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

DDR3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Or do I have to use a card with GDDR3 like the card Im using?

More about : ddr2 huh

GDDR3 = DDR3 when talking about video ram. You should be able to use either of those cards. The one with the DDR3 is going to be faster because of memory speed.

K thanks very much rolli.
I tried to compare my card with the cards in questions on the chart but couldnt find either card (the Radeon 4650 HD 1 GB or my X800 Pro 256 on the few charts I looked thru to see the performance difference.
Hopefully Best Buy stores will have the card in question so I dont have to order thru New Egg (though havebefore with zero issues).

I couldn't find my X800 Pro so I used the XT for comparison

Shame no FPS as for a gamer that's all I care about. But still I can see for just over a $100 the 4670 with 1mb on board ram should make a big difference to hold me over till I get a new PC.
Thanks guys for all the input. Love Toms hardware been a member since Al Gore invented the internet.W
