Why does HDMI look worse than VGA on HDTV?

I have a VOXSON VLCD23XPD with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and i have connected it to my laptop via HDMI and previously via VGA cords. It looks horrible on the HDMI; the desktop is smaller than it should be and everything is blurry, how do i fix this?

and i do have the resolution set at 1920 x 1080

I also have and ATI graphics card if that helps, please help me

Go into your drivers and under "Desk tops and Displays", hit "Configure" on your TV display and go under "Scaling Options". Set "Overscan" to 0%

Can u please go into a little more detail, how do i get into the drivers you are referring to? and there is no config button, i cant find overscan anywhere

ok i did what you said, i turned overscan to 0% and its no better help please
