This will be a dumb question for many of you. I've gotten so out of the loop on this stuff, and the tech just advances too quickly it seems.

I just bought a MSI 890fxa-gd65. I have two HD4870s in there which each require two 6pin connectors, but upon tinkering and just getting familiar with my motherboard today, I find a 6pin connector ON the motherboard itself. In the manual it says the connector provides power to video cards. I do not have a 6 pin connector attached to the motherboard, but of course my cards each have two connected. Why is there a 6pin on my motherboard when the video cards already have 6pin connectors for power? Do I need to have another 6pin going straight to my motherboard? The cards have been running fine so far without this mobo connection.

The six pin is there in case of if you are running two cards without power connections to supplement what is provided with the PCIe slot´s.
