Strange magnetic pull after removing hard drives?

After removing several bare hard drives from a dock plugged into my Mac, it seems like they all have a very strong magnetic pull to something while I am holding them. My Macpro is made from some type of aluminum so maybe it is this? The part that has me confused is that there is no magnetic pull prior to the drives being plugged into the docking station -- it only happens after they are removed.

Anyone know what might be causing this?

It's called Gyroscopic action, caused by the rotating platters.
