What is best wired cable router for vpn & heavy DL'ing?

Hi community,
My Belkin cable router keeps dropping vpn connections so I looking for the best wired cable router for vpn & heavy downloading so what are your recommendations before I buy?
Have been waiting for 3 days now for a call back from Belkin support I don't think it will come to much.

Do you have gigabit LAN or just 10/100? Buy a wireless router, it doesn't cost that much more than wired, just turn off the radios. Personally I like Dlink 4500 series, since it has gigabit LAN ports, also the web page configuration is really nice. It has a lot of features. Is a little pricey though.
