Long-time lurker, never posted. Apologies if I'm lacking some etiquette.

I currently have a 6GB kit of Corsair XMS DDR3-1600 memory - it's great, except that I still find myself using much of it during gaming. I got a decent deal on Newegg for a G.Skill 12GB kit and was pleased to simply double my existing capacity.

It struck me several hours later - am I able to use two sets of triple-channel memory? I have 6 slots for memory and the following specs for the respective kits:

Existing kit
Name: Corsair XMS3 Series
Model: TR3X6G1600C7 G
Latency: 7
Timing: 7-7-7-20
Voltage: 1.65V

New Kit
Name: G.Skill Ripjaw Series
Model: F3-12800CL9T-12GBRL
Latency: 9
Timing: 9-9-9-24
Voltage: 1.5v
Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231358

Obviously if I can make use of 18GB instead of 12, that would be awesome, but the difference in timing, voltage and variance in memory density make me skeptical as to how accurate my hopes are.

Different sizes, different brands and different timings ? You don't ask for much do ya :) ? I have never had much luck unless both speed and timings were a perfect match ... gets harder when they are different brands .... never had any luck tho mixing any brand w/ Gskill.

I must have some good luck. I have mix and matched all kinds of memory.

They just all have to work at the slowest timing in most cases so the new stuff would run @ 9-9-9-24, hell you would not even need the 1.65 volts since the corsair sticks will be working at such loose timings.

I generally have not mixed such large sticks. 2 and 1 gig sticks 1 and 512mb sticks. all worked. Mixed Corsair/OCZ/Crucial/Patriot without issues
