Is the nVidia GT 220 a good graphics card for my basic gaming needs?
I'm also on a low budget.

yes, basic being the key word. What games are you looking at?

Games like Mw2, Crysis, GTA 4.
But then again. I'm thinking that I might upgrade to a 260 or 470.

simple terms, No. The GT220 is a desktop card. I would say for basic, and I mean basic, gaming needs I would stick with a 4670 or 5570 at the very least. It you already have a GT220 you may be able to play some games with the graphics and res turned down. However, to make it someone enjoyable I would look at the 4670 or 5570 as a minimum. The more the better. A GT240 would be better, a 5670 even better. However, you don't really get to reasonable settings until you venture to the actual gaming cards.
