Hard drive clicking, motherboard beeping?

Hey all, I just built a new PC
Coolermax 400w PSU
Biostar 880g+
Athlon 2 x4
Hitachi 1 tb HD
4 GB Kingston DDR3 1333 ram

So I put it all together, and when I start it up, the hard drive just clicks twice, and the motherboard beeps. This continues indefinitely. There is no video or any other sort of response.

If I unplug the HD completely, the computer loads just fine and I can get into the bios.

I've tried plugging in the drive to a different sata port, but doesn't seem to change anything. I'm really not sure if this is a motherboard problem or HDD problem. Any ideas?

Further info:

MB reads DVD (SATA) drive, ram, cpu, and fans.

The MB only trips out when power is connected to the HDD. Otherwise it's right as rain. There are no jumpers on it, so I can't really play with that. HDD just simply bad? If so, why would that screw up the MB?

Also have tried different SATA slots. Same thing. Only seems to happen when power is connected.

Obviously something wrong with the hard disk drive. Even the clicking noise coming from the hard disk drive confirms it.
