Monitor driver will not update

I have a new emachine with windows 7, i needed to hook up two monitors for business purposes. everyone said ok use the usb port. so i bought a vga to usb cable and hooked it up. system does not recognize the dell 1702fp monitor. so i went to dell's site and downloaded the driver for the monitor. i then went into the hardware and chose update driver and even gave it the specific location and folders and everything. and it still says cannot find driver... what the hell is wrong?

Whats wrong is you can't run a monitor off of a usb port. You need to connect it to the graphics card (if the computer has one) or to the connector on the motherboard.
