Lost ps2 mouse during bad xp pro repair install

I have an HP Pavilion 6600z, motherboard is m2n68-la, OS is Windows XP Pro with sp3. I bought a new OEM cd of XP Pro to do a repair install. After three days, it is installed but no mouse. Can't activate the OS without the mouse. Can't login without activation. Can't boot from cd since OS is still in setup. Can't do check disc either because of setup. Setup has me stopped at the activation screen which will not respond to typing "Y" for yes. How do I get the mouse back?

Try a USB mouse

It was a mechanical failure of the mouse. Had to find another old ps2 mouse so I could get out of setup.
