Hi guys, I "recently" built up my gaming computer. Though comparing to some benchmarks my computer seems to have a bit lower framerates around 20% less.

My rig is:

* Intel Core i7 860 2.8Ghz
* Corsair 8gb 1333Mhz
* ASUS Maximus III Formula
* XFX HD 5870 1GB
* Corsair 850W TX
* Western Digital GreenPower 1tb

My opinion is that the bottleneck is the HD, because it only runs at 5400rpm, while most modern hds run at 7200 or 10000 rpm.
In games that require lots of texture loading while playing, like STALKER or gta 4 I get low framerates and small freezes. Though in games like MW 2 I get 150+ fps, flawless.

Any opinions?

Any help is highly appreciated

I don't think it's your hard drive. Lots of textures or not 8GB of RAM should be plenty so that it doesn't have to fall back on your hard drive and read from the disk. I would start by re-installing the latest ATi drivers. (Even if you just did it, do it again)

If that doesn't work then you can check to see if it is HDD related by purchasing a cheap 7200 RPM drive or better yet an SSD.
