My buffalo external hard drive wont let me open my files says it needs formattin

Hello,
my i dropped my 1TB external hard drive but my laptop still recognises it and it still displays my files but when i try and open these files it askes me to format the disk. when i dont do this i cant access my files. I can i retreive my files. HELP PLEASE!

If you physically damaged your hard disk you will need to replace it. you can try to recover some files with:
